Man, New Zealand has been fun, but I have to go. After Jenni left I spent a few usuccesseful days in Christchurch trying to sell the car. Brady met me at the Backpacker Car Market and as soon as we could we left the city for the sanity and hippie respite of Golden Bay. We showed up at Hangdog just as a big dinner party was starting and it seemed as if it was a suprise party just for us, which of course, it wasn't. Brady soon took off to do some Brady stuff and I stuck around Hangdog soaking up every last minute possible with my friends who have now become my family here. As the days wore on we partied much, did lots of hanging out and even managed to send a few mini projects along the way. Eventually we all decided to trip back down to Castle Hill together to get in some final bouldering sessions. I put my car on Trademe (New Zealands Ebay) and managed to get it sold for 700 dollars, which means I lost some money but gained more experiences than would have been possible without the rocket. We spent a few days in Castle Hill trying to pull hard and fighting epic battles with Keas, both of which made me look silly. This morning we left for Christchurch and along the way dropped off The Red Rocket to its new owner and I road the rest of the way to the city with Max in his cow-van named Daisy. As of this moment we are at a friends house eating good food, packing, repacking, smoking, watching movies, talking showers and waiting for 4:30 A.M. to roll around so we can leave for the airport. As it turns out, cheap plan tickets are cheap because the plane leaves at 6:00 in the morning. Soon, my new best mate John and I will be flying to the great blue yonder. Next stop, Australia and another world premier climbing area. We will be spending the next month in Arapalies and then I am headed back to the states to live in Yosemite with Jenni, Russ and all the friends for a while. I'm sad to be leaving New Zealand, mostly because of the ease of living here and because I will be leaving many friends behind. There are many experiences from my travels here that I will not soon forget. Watching a beautiful red moon rise on a deserted beach with Jenni. Being alone and lonely in a camp for days. Hilarious comedy at Hangdog. Gas canister bombs. The feeling of release after finally sending that route. Just driving. Walking through the woods alone listening to music. The swimming hole. Eels. Whales. Swimming with baby seals. Taunting grown sea lions. Sunsets. Sunrises. Dance parties. Festivals. Car problems. Being so happy. So many more. I have learned a lot about myself these past six months and I decided a long time ago that I could not have made a better choice than coming to New Zealand. But alas, it does not end here! I am taking a friend with me to Australia and already have plans in the works to meet others soon enough in other parts of the world, so don't think for a second that the end of New Zealand is the end of Adventure Brad. Oh no my friends, this is simply the beginning of a new chapter, and what a remarkable read it will be. . .
